Best Remote ever!!

Date:14 March 2010
Only reason i gave it 4 on ease of use was becaue of the setup. I had no problems, but someone who is not very techie may have some difficulties with the whole account setup...software download ... setup steps.
I love this remote though. Its the only one that we found that would work correctly with our Vizio soundbar (the one that comes with it is a cheap little junky one that doesnt have very good signal)
I have also set it up and been using it with my wifes laptop for playing movies...media center etc. works great.
i love the one touch switch from one activity to another. no more turning one thing off and another on and finding the tv remote to change the input. once its set up its just awesome.

I love this remote

Date:6 January 2010
I have a number of components, some new, some old school (such as vcr). There was no way with my other remotes (including universal) that I could had any one of 5 controls that would cotrol all 5 devices flawlessly. It took at least any 2-3 remotes to do all features required to do any task. Some would not provide all menu features for digital set top box, for example. The one remote that would, could not handle the AV receiver menus.
My wife, not being a technical geek had major problems trying to figure out which one to use to get the results she requred.
I thought the programming of the Logitech Harmony 700 was great - as long as you have all the correct model numbers for your equipment it programmed very easily. The on screen computer interface to set up the unit was good, to change existing info was a little awkward to figure out at first, but didnt take too long to get it done.
Once all components were programmed in, the unit work perfectly on all devices with a one touch button to activate the required device. (every function of the original remote was available on the Harmony 700).
I like the way you can power on required devices only, and shut off power to all at once if desired.
Also, if you do happen to get a problem and somehow your equipment gets out of sync, pick the help button and an intuitive instruction list gets things working easily just by following the prompts with easy answers.
I have already recommended this unit to several of my friends that have remote problems.
To sum it up, It's a great unit.

Awesome remote!

Date:27 September 2011
I purchased a second hand sony amplifier with no remote thinking "it's sony, so I can find one easily!" well that was a mistake! even a sony universal I purchased would not work it. And then I found the Harmony 700, typed in the model number, and was amazed, it worked! So, next I tried my LCD, yep that too, next was a harder one, a loewe vcr, that aswell! Finally I decided to buy the PS3 adapter so I could do everything with one remote. Very happy with all aspects of the remote, and I recommend it to all my friends, even for the more obscure devices.

This remote is so simple to setup unlike other brand universal remotes and has more than enough buttons to setup all your custom functions and controls. l

Worth it

Date:14 June 2011
We have Samsung LCD, Foxtel, Logitech z5500D speakers and PS3 in our media setup. We had doubts while spending $$ for a remote. But after getting this living room is clutter free.
Pros:
Easy to use. Love activities. Battery life is awesome. Does not feel cheap.
Cons: Nothing yet
Conclusion: Its worth it.

Remote fail

Date:14 June 2011
All I wanted the remote for was to replace my tv and satellite remote, the logitec remote failed to be easier to use than using the two original remotes, it's now sitting in a draw and I'm back using the original remotes supplied with tv and satellite,

Great Remote

Date:13 June 2011
I have played with a few other universal remotes but this is by far the best. So easy to setup and use. Not one thing that I was able to do with the individual remotes is missing. Makes using the multiple devices we have a breeze.

I found the Harmony remote to be very useful in combining my remotes into 1. However, I think it may be more valuable to someone who has more remotes than I do.....My kids loved using it and show it off to their friends constantly! I found it easy to setup and use and after a few initial problems, it worked like a charm. It isn't a product that I would have gone out to buy, but I find it easy to use and will keep using it, if I can get it off my kids!

Great product and support

Date:10 January 2011
A few weeks ago I subscribed to the Logitech Australia facebook page and applied to be a product tester.
After just a few days I was told I was successful and that a Harmony 700 Remote Control was on its way to me for testing.
I had some concerns about whether or not I would be able to operate this remote - I had always been attracted to the possibility of reducing our 3 remote tv/home theatre/foxtel remote controls to a single remote, but I had grave reservations about my ability to set it up.
Getting Started
The delivery of the remote was very fast - but the box sat there unopened for several days while I worked up the courage to give it a go.
After finally opening the box I was a little disappointed to discover that I had to charge the remote at the mains (although I'm very happy that it comes with rechargeable batteries!). This meant that I was not actually able to set it up straight away - effectively meaning another day's wait to set it up.
Initial Programming
When I went to start the programming process (at this stage just for the TV and home theatre) I was a little intimidated by having to connect by USB and then download the program, and while the programming wizard popped up with ease and was reasonably straightforward, I was not sufficiently familiar with my device inputs etc at first and had to go through a few errors before getting the basics programmed.
The wizard was generally very helpful, with the ability to move backwards and forwards through the process important in helping me to get it right.
Once I was fairly sure I had all the correct entries I 'updated' the remote then gave it a test.
Problem...
'Watch TV' worked fine on its own. 'Watch Movie' worked fine on its own. I could 'Watch TV' and whilst watching TV could successfully change to 'Watch Movie'. Unfortunately when Watching a Movie then changing to 'Watch TV' I got the picture, but the sound didn't match. Fortunately the remote has a 'Help' assistant that eventually got the sound in place, but the problem remained each time I switched from 'Movie' to 'TV'.
I reconnected the remote by usb checked my settings through the online wizard - all seemed fine. I got my 22 year old IT graduate to check out what I had done. He said he couldn't see anything wrong.
The wizard not only provided tips and links to FAQs and the online knowledge base, but also the possibility of seeking help by email or phone. I chose email and sent of details about my problem.
Within 48 hours I had a reply indicating that my home theatre was a little quirky so the remote would need a bit of special programming. I was asked to do a couple of tests and provide info, which I did. The logitech helper then added the programming to my online account - and all I had to do was reconnect via usb an 'update' the remote.
Hey Presto - all perfect!
So, not only have two remote controls been reduced to a single remote, but a single button gets the settings on the two devices to where they need to be for me to Watch TV or Watch Movie (DVD/Bluray). I have also set up the single button 'Listen to Music' command.
Adding Foxtel
This morning we had foxtel added to the mix.
By now I had become very familiar with the both the wizard and my system's inputs and was reasonably confident that I could get through the programming process - and I did! 'Watch TV' has been successfully updated so that I now have three remote controls in one!
If I think I will actually use the recording capacity of foxtel then I will go through the process of adding the 'Record Video' activity, and I am quite confident that I will be able to do it with relative ease.
Conclusion
The Harmony 700 means that we only need one remote to control our TV/home theatre/foxtel - and that we don't have to mess around with the settings on each individual device to get them to do what we want them to do.
While there was a little bit of pain in the process, this was because our home theatre had a quirk. Logitech were able to deal with this easily and reasonably quickly.
The whole process may not have been quite as easy as I had hoped it might be, but was certainly worth the little bit of hassle.
All things considered, I'd give it 4/5 at this stage.
Now I'll use it for a bit and report back about how well it works for the various functions later.

A great remote

Date:17 October 2010
Yahoo, I now have complete control. 5 remotes from the TV, PVR,stero,Blueray, lights are now sitting in a drawer without batteries. Others say they bought it for their less tech savy spouses. Heck i bought it because it makes sense. Why would you want to fumble with multiple remotes. This one beauty does it all, programming took 5 minutes. EASY. I have the Harmony ONE downstairs for my other system for the past year, it is great BUT the Harmony 700 i think is better and significantly less in cost. I does everything the other does and has the necessary BlueRay/internetTV buttons already on the unit. Great product. Would definitely recommend this unit

Spouse Support

Date:15 October 2010
I chose the Harmony 700 because it was priced properly and because of one main feature: my tech-compromised wife is able to turn on all the entertainment items using the "Watch" buttons. She would not pick up and use individual remotes. This product she uses and doesn't complain. My marriage is saved...lol.
If you have a spouse in similar non-tech mode, I strongly suggest you purchase this remote.

Best of the Harmonys

Date:28 September 2010
Of all the Harmony Remotes I've used, the 700 is the best. I much prefer the hard buttons to the touch screen. The only drawback to the 700 is the limit of devices. I upgraded to the Harmony One to get an additional device added to my home theater but I now regret that since the touch screen on the One is so troublesome compared to the hard buttons of the 700. If you have 6 or fewer devices then this is the best remote out there.

The Man's Remote!!!

Date:28 September 2010
Purchased this remote at a retail store. Got it home, downloaded and installed the software. Specifically configured each feature (TV, Movie, Music etc). Tv btw is about 10-15 years old and the remote works with it! Controlling a blu ray player, tv and digital cable box. Works seamlessly. After all the computer configuration was completed spent about 10 min testing through trial and error. The in remote help and assistant was a breeze to use. Was skeptical at first about features etc, but totally surprised by the power this remote has. Bought last night, seeing how this is a logitech product, I dont expect I will have to replace any time soon.
Again Excellent Man's Remote for the man cave!!!
(Also this remote is excellent for women as well, Im not singling out men, just a little over excited because Im building my cave ha ha.

Still the best ever - Easiest setup ever!

Date:19 September 2010
Just brought this home after my 550 finally died. Downloaded the software, plugged it in and pressed the "do you want to replace your old remote" button. A minute later my new device was completely updated with my electronics and I did not have to do a thing. Just perfect!

Nice remote, but not all that flexible

Date:6 September 2010
Purchased the harmony 700 based on reviews about its flexiblty and LONG list of supported equipment. In the end I'm quite disappointed and returning.
My system is a Sony TV with a Sony AV receiver. When using the Harmony Wizard to program the remote Logitech provided my equipment as the 'sample' models hence I thought WOW they must support my equipment.
Yet.....I would be very shortly disappointed.... For example
1) In the wizard you tell the system if you use the AV system or the TV to control the audio for the activitiy, but the software fails to configure the system to use the appropriate audio.
2) Once programed the Mute button doesn't even work
I could go on but why....
I purchased the remote for turnkey controls not to have to manually program all the buttons myself (for the most basic of controls such as change Audio from TV to overheads (AV receiver)). One would think a $100 remote would be able to perform such 'out of the box' and I'd be programming it to do more advanced functions. NOT.

Best Universal Remote

Date:27 August 2010
I have always had a problem with universal remotes because of my Philips home theatre system. The original remote changes the 'Off' code depending on what function it was turned on with.
I started with the setup software which worked beautifully, input the models of my equipment and the software set up my activities for me.
The only problem I had when using the remote was that sometimes the home theatre wouldn't turn off. I contacted tech support and after several attempts to correct this issue, was escalated to level 2 tech support. After explaining the problem to the tech, (Sanjay, who is GREAT!), he made some programming changes, had me update the remote, and it now works flawlessly! I am impressed! Everyone in the family loves the new remote and the ease of operation. I am even using features I couldn't bother with before because I didn't want to dig out the original remote.

Good Remote but........

Date:19 August 2010
Best Buy (off the truck) set it up and it worked fine.(Unfortunately I paid the hiigher price before reduction) but am still happy about it. If it had one shortcoming it would be using it with playback of my PV'R recordings. I do a lot of pause, rewind, fast forward to avoid the commercials, so I "ride the remote hard." I do find I have to really watch the recharging level. Sometimes it will barely go one day without recharging, as opposed to the usual 2-3 days you might normallly get out of "normal" use. But...I still love it.
P, S, Why would anyone want touch screen: (Maybe its because I'm 78 years old.)

Excellent Remote

Date:16 August 2010
This remote is exactly what I was looking for. Setup was a breeze. The software was very easy to use. Syncing the remote was a snap. The software features allowed me to customize the remote so that I was able to use all the features of the five remotes that my Logitech Harmony 700 is replacing. Well worth the cost (BestBuy matched the lowest price I found). I also purchased the Logitech adapter that allows me to control my PS3 with the Harmony 700. Works like a charm.

Hate it Can't get it programmed

Date:5 August 2010
No matter what I tried, I can't get it to work, I've waited too long to return it and have to keep using my 5 year old Harmony which is worn out. Finally pulled out individual remotes this week. I WASTED A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME ON THIS THING
